Irene E Floyde's Obituary

HERKIMER - Irene E. Floyde of North Bellinger Street passed away on Wednesday evening July 26, 2006 in the Abraham House, Utica . She was born in Indian Castle, daughter of the late Irving and Lena Foster Congdon. A lifelong area resident she had lived in Herkimer for the past twenty years. On July 31, 1937 she was united in marriage with Burdette Balderston in St Marys Church, Little Falls. A loving and devoted union of thirty-one years until his passing in 1968. Ten years later on January 13, 1978 she married Raymond Floyde in Rochester . He preceded her in death in 1987. Mrs. Floyde had a strong belief in God and led a devoted Catholic life. She was a member of St Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. Her home and family were the important things in her life. She loved to sew with a designing ability like no one else. Give her the material and she could make something out of almost nothing. The memory of the warmth of their home and the aromas of her cooking and baking will live on with her children forever. In her leisure time she enjoyed Bingo. Irene was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great-grandson. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Esther and Emerson Lamphere of Richfield Springs, Irene and Larry Panko of Herkimer, one brother-in-law, Floyd Salvagni of St Johnsville, two sister-in-laws, Helen Balderston of Little Falls, Doris Fields of NJ, four grandchildren, Joseph Panko and his wife Kim of Ilion, James Lamphere of West Winfield, Douglas Lamphere, Patricia Lamphere both of Richfield Springs, seven great grandchildren, Heather Lamphere of MI, Burdette Lamphere and his companion Tracy of West Winfield, Jenna Lamphere of GA, Megan Lamphere of Richfield Springs, Kayla, Joshua and Krista Panko all of Ilion, one great great-grandson, Christian Lamphere of West Winfield, Several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husbands Burdette and Raymond she was preceded in death by three sisters, Loretta Pohleven, Nellie Hobin, Anna Forcine and her granddaughter Marianne Panko who died in 1990. Funeral from Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer on Monday at 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am in St Francis deSales Church Herkimer with the Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in St Marys Cemetery, town of Herkimer . The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. Her family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Volunteers and Staff of Hospice Inc. for all the care and compassion shown to Irene during these difficult days.
