WEST WINFIELD - Irene A. Mulligan, 79, of Burrows Road, formerly of Richfield Springs, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 15, 2003, in her home. She was born June 27, 1923, in Richfield Springs, daughter of the late Hugh and Mary Dunne Mulligan. A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Richfield Springs Central School. For 25 years she worked in quality control for Univac in Utica, Retiring in 1985. Mrs. Mulligan has resided in West Winfield since 1982, coming from Richfield Springs. She was a member of Saint Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs, and the Catholic Women's Club. A member of both West Winfield and Bridgewater Senior Citizens, Irene looked forward to going on the many bus trips that they took. She will always be remembered as a loving, caring and hopeful person. She will be greatly missed by many, especially her family. Surviving are her son, Thomas and his wife Georgia Cantwell of Springfield Center; a granddaughter Amy and her husband John Selover of Cooperstown; a great-granddaughter, Molly Selover; one sister, Marion T. Horan of California; a brother, Robert J. and his wife Helen Mulligan of Fly Creek; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Mulligan and a special friend, J. Francis Burns. Funeral from J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs, will take place on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in Saint Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Terence Healy will officiate. Mrs. Mulligan will be laid to rest in Saint Joseph's Cemetery later this spring at a time to be announced. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the West Winfield Emergency Squad.
