Obituary

MOHAWK-Isabelle Bergendahl, age 92, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday afternoon, February 21, 2008, at her home. She was born on March 17, 1915, in Fort Plain, daughter of the late Allen and Grace Stubley Lake. She was raised in Alexandria Bay and was a graduate of Alexandria Bay High School. On May 5, 1939 she was united in marriage with Raymond Bergendahl in Chicago, IL. A loving and devoted union of fifty-seven years, he preceded her in death on January 7, 1997. A Mohawk resident since 1943, she and her husband moved to the Mohawk Valley, coming from Chicago. Mrs. Bergendahl had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Mohawk. Isabelle was a private person who found great joy in the comfort of her home and took pride in its appearance both inside and out. She loved her family and cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be truly missed. Surviving are one son, Peter Bergendahl of Scotia, a daughter, Susan and her husband James Cimino of Little Falls, five grandchildren, Erick, Caroline and Gretchen and Elizabeth and Sarah, along with several great-grandchildren and one niece. Besides her parents and husband Raymond she was predeceased by a brother, David Lakein 1996. Funeral service will take place in Mohawk Cemetery later this spring at a time to be announced. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc., Herkimer.
