POPLAR GROVE, IL – Ivan Wagner Schrader, age 88, of Poplar Grove, formerly of Herkimer passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 29, 2020 at the home of his son, Adam. He had the comfort of his family by his side at the time of his passing. He was born on November 2, 1931 in Herkimer, a son to the late Rudolph M. and Minnie Schulenberg Schrader, Sr. Ivan was raised and educated in Herkimer attending Herkimer High School. At 17, Ivan joined the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean War. Upon his return from the war he worked at UNIVAC and the Town of Herkimer Highway Maintenance Department retiring in 1992. He was formerly married to Georgiana Hopper and then Virginia Griffin. Ivan was a member of the Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department. He was a friend to many and will not be forgotten. Surviving him are his son Adam and his wife Donna-Marie of Poplar Grove, IL, his daughter Jacqueline Schrader Paul of East Hampton, CT, two brothers Allen and his wife Karen of Herkimer and Harold and his wife Mary of Chelais, WA, three sisters Janice Butler and her husband Jack of Newport, Joyce Casale and her husband Tony of Mohawk and Armeda LaBreche of Herkimer, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides parents he is preceded in death by both wives Georgiana and Virginia, his brother Rudolph, Jr. and his infant brother Richard, and two sisters Patricia Smith and Beverly Weber. A funeral service for Ivan will take place on Saturday at 11:00am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer, with Reverend Anita Mohr officiating. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service. To those attending COVID-19 regulations will be observed.
