HERKIMER - Jacob P. "Jake" Weber of 76 Steuben Road died Friday morning, May 12, 2000, in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital Center, New Hartford.He was born on June 20,1923 in Herkimer, son of the late Jacob P. and Dorothy Witherstine Weber. Alifelong Herkimer resident he was educated in Herkimer schools. An honorablydischarged U.S. Navy veteran, he served our country during World War II. Hefirst started his working life as a plumber, working for Ertman Plumbers. In1954, he was employed by the Herkimer County Highway Department and retired as aforeman in 1984.Jake was a man whoenjoyed doing for others. He will always be remembered for his helpful adviceand quick wit. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was amember of the East Herkimer Fish and Game Club, The Old Forge Fish and Game Cluband the East Pond Hunting Club of Tupper Lake.Surviving him are onedaughter, Kerry and her husband Gene Bonomo and two grandchildren, Star-Lynneand Angelo Bonomo, all of Newport; one brother, Warren and his wife Ruth Weberof Herkimer; three sisters, Joyce and her husband Rudy Schrader of Herkimer,Joan Parsons and her companion Jim Munger of East Herkimer, Shirley and herhusband Edward Getman of Herkimer; a brother-in-law, Donald Oliver of Vernon;many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He was precededin death by five brothers, Howell, who died in World War II, Robert, Frederick,William, and Douglas Weber; two sisters, Margaret Oliver and Frances Schvihla.Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10: a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. The Rev. Dale Dickerson, pastor of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer, will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends in the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 p.m.
