Obituary

James A. Casadonte passed away peacefully on December 5th. He was born in Herkimer on April 7, 1944 to Robert and Ruth(Vincent) Casadonte. He was a 1962 graduate of Mohawk Central Schools. In 1966 he was drafted into the US Army and served with the 25th Infantry in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive. For his service he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and then was honorably discharged in April 1968. On October 26, 1968 he married Rosemary Masi at St. James Church in Fort Plain, a blessed union of 54 years. He was employed with Northrup Supply/Irr Supply for 40 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Lane (Deborah) Casadonte of Mechanicsville, VA and Stephanie (Greg) Andrejcak of Gansevoort, NY, and 4 grandchildren, Connor and Mary Catherine Casadonte and James and Stephen Andrejcak; his sister Lynn Mushen, and his in-laws Carol Casadonte, David and Barbara Masi, Richard and Elizabeth Mathy, and Patricia Stock and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his siblings, Harry (Pete) Robert and Nancy, and his in-laws Sandra Casadonte, William Steffen, Diane and Keith Cagwin, Roger Stock, his niece Corrine Ross, and his nephews, Dave Mushen, James Steffen and Joseph Masi. Jim was a lifetime member of the American Legion Crowley Barnum Post 25 in Mohawk, NY and treasured his years growing up, "up on the hill". He was happiest in the peace of the home he created with Rosemary on Renwick Ave. He was a gentleman who will be remembered for his quiet presence and quick wit. The family would like to thank the staff of Valley Health Services for the care Jim received, and the Bello family for their continuous support. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on Saturday, December 10th at 11:00am, with Reverend Jerry Piper presiding. In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that you consider donations to The Double H. Ranch, 97 Hidden Valley Road, Lake Luzerne, NY or the Veterans charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc. Graveside Service
