Obituary

WARREN- James William Collins, age 76, of Little Lakes Road passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday February 4, 2015 in his home. Jim was the yongest child born into the loving family of the late Harold L. & Hattie M. Hoffman Collins. A life long area resident, Jim graduated from Van Hornsville Central School. As a young man, Jim served his country with the United States Army, stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged. Later, Jim drove truck for Roadway Express in Marcy, where he made lifelong friendships and was affectionately known as "JC." After many years, Jim retired to his home, Slab City Farm, where he continued to be an active member in the local farming community. With a natural ability to always make a friend wherever he went, Jim will be remembered by all who knew him as a kind and generous man with a clever mind and a unmatched sense of humor. A man who had a heart that always loved. He will be truly missed. "Pop" is survived by his beloved son, Floyd Guidi and his wife Karen of Ilion, a beloved daughter Rebecca Collins of Albany, two brothers, Leland Collins Sr. of Jordanville, Robert Collins of Mohawk, three sisters, Dorthea Chase of Delaware, Marlon Fleckenstein of Syracuse, and Ella Louise Light of Plattsburgh, two grandchildren, Travis and Gwen Guidi of Ilion, a faithful K9 companion, Zoe, several nieces, nephews and cousins, along with many beloved friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Chester Collins and Harold Collins and three sisters, Kathleen Suits, Cecelia Davey, and Veronica Ingles. Funeral service for Mr. Collins will be held on Saturday February 7, 2015 at 2:30pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 W. James Street, Richfield Spring, The Reverend Bernard Osei Ampong pastor of Saint Joseph the Worker R.C. Church Richfield Springs, will officiate. Calling hours will be held at the conclusion of the service from 3:00pm to 6:00pm in the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Richfield Springs Rescue Squad or Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
