SCHUYLER LAKE-James Reeves Donnelly Sr. age 79 passed away unexpectedly on Saturday evening February 6, 2016 in Bassett Medical Center Cooperstown. He had the support and comfort of his devoted family at his side. He was born on July 19, 1936 in Cooperstown, son of the late William R. and Mary Kraham Donnelly. A lifelong Schuyler Lake resident he was educated in Schuyler Lake and was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School. On November 3, 1963 he was united in marriage with the former Sharon A. Bucek in Saint Josephs Church, Richfield Springs. Mr. Donnelly owned and operated the Donnelly Dairy Farm in Schuyler Lake until his retirement in 2009. He at one time served as Assessor for the Town of Exeter and was also President of the Farmers Coop. Jim had a strong belief in God and was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker R.C. Church in Richfield Springs. In his younger years he was an accomplished boxer and was a Golden Gloves Champion. To all who knew him he was a caring and helpful man. He will always be remembered for his extreme wit and sense of humor. Any conversation with him was straight and to the point yet you always felt his warmth and friendship whenever you were with him. He will be truly missed by his many friends and family especially his four cherished grandchildren.
Surviving are his loving wife of fifty-two years Sharon, two sons, Robert A. Donnelly and James R. Donnelly Jr. both of Richfield Springs, his daughter, Laura A. Sheldon and her husband Thomas of Raleigh, NC, a brother William Donnelly of Schuyler Lake, four grandchildren, Leah C. Donnelly, Sydney A. Sheldon, Cody Donnelly and Shayla Donnelly, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah A. Donnelly, one brother, Edwin T. Donnelly and a sister, Ann Marie Wilson.
Mr. Donnellys Family welcomes all to attend a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 am in Saint Joseph the Worker R.C. Church, Richfield Springs. The Reverend Silvaster Sarihaddula, Pastor will officiate. Interment will take place later this spring in Saint Josephs Cemetery, Richfield Springs. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the American Heart Fund. Envelopes will be available at the church service. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.?
