Obituary

HERKIMER - James R. Gagnon, 58, of Perry Street, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, April 10, 2001, in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. He was born July 22, 1942, in Herkimer, son of the late Robert J. and Ruth A. Pardee Gagnon Miller. A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of West Canada Valley High School. An honorably discharged U.S. Air Force veteran he had served in Germany during the Vietnam War. After returning home from his military service, he worked as a custodian for the Herkimer Central School System. Jim was a friend to many and will not be forgotten. Surviving him are two brothers, William Gagnon of LaCrescenta, Calif. and Ronald Gagnon of Wichita Falls, Texas; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. His brother, Gary Gagnon, preceded him in death in 1994. A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. The Very Rev. James Jadick, United States Air Force chaplain, will officiate. Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
