HERKIMER Jan Lowell, age 86, of King Street, passed away peacefully at St. Lukes Medical Hospital, New Hartford, Saturday, April 4, 2009, after a brief illness. She was born on February 14, 1923, a daughter of the late Paul and Caroline Schypek Klys. Raised and educated in Herkimer, she married Clarence J. Lowell in 1949 in the First Baptist Church, Herkimer. They shared a devoted union of 46 years until his passing in 1996. During World War II she had worked for Con-Med and Sperry-Rand. She had also worked for Remington Arms for a few years before retiring in 1975. Mrs. Lowells heart was always focused on her family. She will be remembered as a loving and caring person and will be truly missed by friends and especially her family. Surviving are her four children, James Russell Lowell of Poland, Cathy Bellinger of Little Falls, Amy Yero and her husband Brian of Ilion, and Jeffrey Lowell and his wife Michelle of Ft. Herkimer, eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband Clarence she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Stella Paratore, Josephine Ritchie, and Pauline Klys. Funeral Service and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
