Obituary

FAIRFIELD-Jane A. Petrie age 81 of Rasbach Road formerly of Herkimer passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday August 10, 2005 in her home. She was born on January 15, 1924 in Little Falls, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Harrigan Malone. A lifelong area resident she was raised in Little Falls and was a graduate of Little Falls High School. On April 14, 1951 she was united in marriage with John H. Petrie in Saint Marys Church Little Falls. A loving and devoted union of forty-three years he preceded her in death on November 15, 1994. In 1996 she moved from Herkimer to Fairfield. Mrs. Petrie had worked for the Cherry Burrell Company in Little Falls and later for Mohawk Data Sciences in Herkimer, retiring in 1985. While living in Herkimer she was a member of Saint Francis deSales Church Herkimer. Most of all Jane loved her family and her home. Her leisure time was spent baking, cooking and crocheting. She also enjoyed playing cards. Her happiest moments were when she was surrounded by her many friends and family especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are one son, John H. Petrie Jr. and his wife Patricia of Herkimer, two daughters and their husbands, JoAnn and Floyd Lyon of Little Falls, Ellen and Wayne Hight of Clarksville, TN, a son-in-law, Robert Kane of St Charles, MO, two brothers, Charles Malone of Laconia, NH, Joseph and his wife Dorothy Malone of TX, two sisters, Ann Morgan of San Diego, CA, Mary Kiernan of Cortland, NY, eight grandchildren, Brian Hight, Alex and his wife Michelle Hight, Sarah Lyon, Matthew Lyon, Katelyn Lyon, Joseph Petrie, Alan Petrie and Megan Kane, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband John she was preceded in death by her daughter Laurie Kane in 1992. Funeral from Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer on Saturday at 10:15 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am in St Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. The Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor will officiate. Committal in Oak Hill Cemetery will take place at a later time convenient to the family. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Friday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the East Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
