ILION - Jared Daniel McManus, 17, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Friday, December 2, 2016. He was born on October 14, 1999 in New Hartford;the beloved son of Chad A. McManus & Melissa L. Twitchell. He was lifelong resident of Ilion; a junior at Central Valley Academy and a student in the Culinary Program at B.O.C.E.S. In his leisure time he enjoyed playing video games and hackey sack, listening to music and working on farms. To all who knew him he was a caring, helpful, polite and respectful young man with a heart as big as gold. He will always be remembered for his unforgettable smile and he will be sadly missed by many of his friends and family. Besides his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Jerrold Twitchell of Frankfort and his wife Carol, Barbara Twitchell of Ilion, his paternal grandparents, David & Pamela McManus of East Herkimer, brother Bryan McGuire-McManus of Herkimer, two sisters, Amanda Brown of West Chester, PA, Alyssa Edick of Ilion and her companion Lacey Bevers, aunts and uncles, Donna McManus of New York City, Rob & Edie Twitchell of Ilion, Dick & Cindy Jones of Homer, David & Kristen McManus of Herkimer, Jimmy & Cynthia McManus of Mohawk, many cousins including special cousins, Lacey, D.J., Danny, Travis, Brittany Alyssa and Kaitlyn, and lets not forget his best buddy Diesel the Dog. Calling hours for Jared will be on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. Funeral service will take place on Saturday morning at 11:00 am in the Herkimer First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Janet Gleason, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
