WILLIAMSPORT, PA-Jean Ann Sabatino age 71 of Green Avenue formerly of Ilionpassed away unexpectedly on Friday morning January 2, 2009 in her home.
She was born on March 25, 1937 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Charles and Virginia Biney Wheeler. Jean was raised in Ilion and was a graduate of Ilion High School. After high school she worked for a short time at General Electric Co. in Uticaand later for VanAllen Nursing Home in Little Falls as a Certified Nurses Aide. In 1958 she was united in marriage with John Sabatino in the Ilion Baptist Church. They shared a loving union of thirty-five years, until his passing in 1993. Mrs. Sabatino had resided in Ilion most of her life until 2007 when she moved to Williamsport , PA to live with her son Christopher and his wife Margaret.
Jean took great pride in being a wife, mother and homemaker. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family especially her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her five devoted sons, John Sabatino and his wife Melissa of Rome, Christopher Sabatino and his wife Margaret of Williamsport, Anthony Sabatino and his wife Chi of Salamanca, Dominick Sabatino and his wife Brenda of Ilion and Michael Sabatino of Williamsport, two beloved sisters, her twin, Janet Harrington of Frankfort and Helen Bluett of Ilion, fifteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband John she was preceded in death by her long-time friend, Harry MacLaughlin.
Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 10:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Hans Drews will officiate. Interment will take place later this spring in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 pm.
