CORTLAND - Jean Marie White, 55, of Grant Street, formerly of Ilion, passed away Wednesday morning, June 19, 2002, in Cortland Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 5, 1946, in Ilion, daughter of Grace Bowman Ingerham and the late Walter Ingerham. Jean was raised in Herkimer and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. At one time she owned and operated a hairdressing and cosmetology business in Ilion. For six years she worked for the Burrows Paper Co. in Little Falls. This past year she was employed by the Applied Concepts Co. in Cortland. She had a belief in God and attended both Methodist and Baptist churches in Cortland. All who knew her will remember her warm smile and caring manner. She was a friend to many and will never be forgotten. Surviving are a son, Donald A. Ropeter of Herkimer; a daughter, Darlene Pekarski of Buffalo; her devoted best friend and fiance, Mark Heinzig of Cortland; three brothers, Vaughn "Mike" Ingerham of Mexico, N.Y., Gary Ingerham and Ingram "Ingy" Ingerham, both of Ilion; three sisters, Jeanette Young, Joyce Sanderson and Alice White, all of Ilion; four grandchildren, Tara Pekarski, Robert Pekarski Jr., Steven Pekarski, all of Buffalo and Courtney Ropeter of Herkimer; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her father, Walter, Jean was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Richard Ingerham and a sister, Linda Schrader. Funeral service will be on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. The Rev. Dale Dickerson, pastor of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer, will officiate. A committal service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
