Ilion - Jeanette S. LaCelle, age 82, formerly of Elizabethtown Road, entered into eternal rest on Sunday evening, June 27, 2004 in Valley Health Services, Inc., Herkimer. She had the comfort of knowing her family was at her side. She was born on August 21, 1921 in East Frankfort, the daughter of the late George and Elsie May (Mead) Mills. Raised and educated in Ilion she graduated from Ilion High School. On January 25, 1941 she married Merrill Dean LaCelle in Mohawk. He predeceased her on January 3, 2001. For over 40 years she worked as a cook in the Stone House Restaurant, retiring in 1988. Jeanette was involved in community organizations. She was a past member of the Ladies Aide, the Home Bureau, and the Cedarville Ladies Auxiliary Volunteer Fire Department. She enjoyed her home and her heart was always focused on her family. She loved preparing meals and having the whole family gather around the table. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother she will be missed but live on in their hearts. Surviving are two sons and their wives, Merrill George and Alice LaCelle of Albuquerque, NM, Riley Paul and Corliss of Herkimer, three daughters, Bonnie Zobrist of Ilion, Carol Ann Elthrop and her husband Donald of Mohawk, Melanie and her husband Mario Gazzilli of Frankfort; one sister Betty Gage of Ilion, fifteen grandchildren, Eighteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by a daughter Fay Dean Lacelle, Three sisters Alberta Engells, Winifred Elliott, and Esther Werthman and one great-grandchild. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. Interment will follow in Cedarville Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
