TOWN OF COLUMBIA-Jeffrey McLean Shaw age 77 passed away unexpectedly
on Sunday morning
May 2, 2021 at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. He was born in 1943 in Schenectady, NY, son of the late Lawrence and Evelyn Shaw. Jeff was a graduate of Schalmont High School. He furthered his education and graduated from Cornell University School of Agriculture in 1967 with a degree in Ag education. He taught for a short time at Worcester Central School. On November 14, 1970 he and Virginia married in Fillmore, NY. It was that same year they purchased the Four-Closure Farm in the town of Columbia and for forty-six years successfully operated it until his retirement in 2016. Mr. Shaw had a great interest in repairing and refinishing antiques. Upon his retirement he sold his antiques from his booth at the Mohawk Antiques Mall. Mr. Shaw had a strong sense of community; he served as an assessor in the Town of Columbia and was also head of the Columbia Cemetery Association. All who knew him, will never forget what a caring and hardworking man he was. Jeff was happiest when he was surrounded by his many friends and family especially his cherished grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of fifty years, Virginia, three sons, Randy and Lisbet Shaw of Branchville, NJ, Gregory and Marilyn Shaw of Richfield Springs, NY, Justin Shaw and Danny Reeves of Lakewood, CO, two daughters, Sarah and Jeremy Seamon of Richfield Springs, NY, Tracey and Mick Letofsky of Aurora, CO, a brother, Andrew and his wife Kay Shaw of Denver, CO, six grandchildren, Gabrielle, Isabelle, Lincoln, Benjamin, Nora and Mya, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara and Frances.
Calling hours for Mr. Shaw will be
on Saturday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm
at J Seaton McGrath Funeral Home,

; Richfield Springs. A private service will be held immediately after calling hours. Interment will follow in the Columbia Dutch Reformed Cemetery on Jordanville Road. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Columbia Cemetery Association, c/o
