HERKIMER Jessie A. Case, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Homelife at Folts. She had the comfort of her family at her side.
She was born on May 30, 1931 in Little Falls, daughter of the late Kenneth and Cora Doxstader
Watkins.
A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School and soon after was united in marriage to Lyle Thompson Jr. until 1960. On December 20, 1976 she was reunited in marriage to Carl Case in Dolgeville at the home of her daughter. They shared a loving and devoted union of 46 years until his passing on May 16, 2012. Mrs. Case came to Herkimer from Oppenheim in 2011 where she has resided since. Jessie had worked as a textile worker at Palatine Dye in Saint Johnsville, Gehring Tricot in Dolgeville and Continental Mills in Gloversville before retiring in the 1980s to take care of her home and family.
In her leisure time she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, baking and writing daily in her journals about her family. She also loved the many years spent traveling with her husband to Bulwaga Bay on Lake Champlain. To those who knew her she will always be remembered as a loving, caring and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family especially her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She truly enjoyed the time she spent with all of her friends at Galinsky Apartments; they were such a comfort to her in the time of her husbands passing. She will be sadly missed.
Surviving are eight children and their families, Brett Thompson and his wife Barbara of Boise, Idaho,Kim Butler and her husband Gene, Kellene Brown and her husband Maynard III all of East Herkimer,Carl Case Jr and his wife Angela of Glenville, Douglas Case and his wife Elisabeth of Dolgeville, ScottCase and his wife Becky of Oppenheim, Steve Case and his wife Tina of St. Johnsville, stepdaughterShane Case of Herkimer, twenty-three grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren. Besides herparents and Husband Carl Sr. she was preceded in death by a son Mark Thompson in 2002 and a daughter Angel Marie in 1965.
A memorial service will be held in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer on Fridaymorning at 11:00 am. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friendson Friday from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff on the first floor Rehab and fourth floor of Homelife at Folts for the care and tenderness shown to Jessie during her stay. Also for the care she received at St. Lukes Hospital and St. Elizabeths Special Care Unit on the fourth floor. A special thank you to Joe and Charlene Krump of Oppenheim who were devoted neighbors to Jessie and Carlfor over 40 years.
Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to Homelife at Folts or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
