WINTER HAVEN, FL-Jill R. Darling, age 65, of Wild Dunes Court, formerly of Johnstown, NY passed away after an extended illness on Friday afternoon February 12, 2010, in the Winter Haven Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on June 21, 1944, in Utica, daughter of the late Raymond C. and Bertha Smith Suits. Jill was raised in Mohawk and was a graduate Mohawk High School. She furthered her education at Utica College where she received her Bachelor of Arts. On August 16, 1969 she was united in marriage with Curtis F. Darling in Grace Episcopal Church Mohawk. In 1975 they moved to Johnstownwhere they made their home until 2001.
For more than thirty years Mrs. Darling was an elementary school teacher at West Canada Valley Central School, she retired in 2000. They have made there home in Winter Haven since 2001.
She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Mohawk and the New York State Retired Teachers Association.
To all who knew her she will always be remembered as a warm, caring and hopeful person. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her loving husband of forty years, Curtis, a sister, Judy Hyde and her husband Richard of Little Falls, a niece Stephanie Nowak of New York Mills, and two nephews Patrick Hyde serving in the Air Force and Richard Hyde of Glenville.
A Memorial Service will be held this Saturday at 3:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. The Very Reverend Paul Bailey, Rector of Christ Episcopal Church will officiate. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the memorial service (from 2:00 until 3:00 pm). Interment in Saratoga National Cemeterywas private.
Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
