Mohawk – Joan Ann Miner, age 72, passed away on Wednesday evening June 11, 2025 at Little Falls Hospital.
She was born on January 21, 1953, in Starkville, a daughter of the late Walter and Vera (Rickard) Harwick. A lifelong area resident she graduated from Mohawk Central School. On January 19, 1974, she married David V. Miner in the Mohawk United Methodist Church. They shared a loving and devoted union of 51 years until his passing on January 22, of this year.
She worked in the Mohawk School Cafeteria as a beloved lunch lady, retiring in 2022. As a dedicated member of the Christian Bible Church of Mohawk, Joan faithfully and graciously served the Lord. She will be remembered as a kind, joyful, and giving person. She was known for her many talents, crafting skills, and especially her delicious decorative cakes. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed!
Surviving are her sons and daughters, Christopher Miner and Phillip Miner both of Mohawk, Karen Mason and her husband Michael of North Carolina, and Melinda Miner, six grandchildren, Chad, Matthew, and Leah Mason, Jon, Ayden, and Logan Miner, one brother Walter Harwich of Mohawk, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents and husband David, she was predeceased by two brothers Richard and Raymond Rickard, and sister Eleanor Tucker.
A Celebration of a Life Together, remembering Joan & David Miner will be held on Saturday, July 19 at the Columbia Town Barn in Ilion, NY, with a service at 11 am and luncheon to follow. Expressions of sympathy can be made with donations to the Christian Bible Church, P.O. Box 273, Mohawk, NY 13407.
Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home, Inc, Herkimer.
