Joan E. Hotaling, age 65, of Elizabethtown Road, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning February 8, 2007 in her home after a short illness. She had the comfort of knowing her sister and godson were with her. She was born on December 9, 1941 a daughter of the late Charles and Nellie Lang Hotaling. A lifelong area resident she was raised and educated in Ilion. Her first employment was with Allegro Shoe Company of Little Falls, she then worked for Innerroyal Standard Furniture. For the past 33 years she had worked for Remington Arms in Ilion retiring on February 20, 2006. A Methodist by faith she had been a member of the South Ilion Methodist Church. Her life revolved around her family. She was always there for her brothers, sisters and especially her nieces and nephews. Joan will always be remembered as a loving, caring and helpful person and will be greatly missed. Surviving are her sister Mary Williams with whom she resided, a brother William Hotaling of South Columbia, her cherished godson Will Jaquish of Herkimer, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers Floyd and Robert Hotaling and her two sisters Margaret Aney and Nettie Jaquish. In keeping with Joans wishes there are no calling hours.
