HERKIMER Joanne Carol Jones, age 68, of 690 West German Street, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, September 30, 2011, in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. She had the comfort of knowing her family was at her side. Joanne was born on October 29, 1942, in Herkimer, daughter of the late Edward and Josephine Alexander Drabent. A lifelong area resident she was raised in Herkimer and was a graduate of Herkimer High School, class of 1960. She had worked for Herkimer Hospital in the Lab and as a switchboard operator, retiring in 1966. She was an active and devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses. Surviving are her two daughters, Denise Carpenter of Frankfort and Cheryl Warney of Little Falls, seven grandchildren, Kayla, Deann, Kyle, Tonka, Allison, Desiree and Adrianna, great-grandchildren, Peyton, Madison, Alexander, Avril, Emily, Grace, Jayden, Serenity and Harmony. The family would like to give special thanks to Tim Miosek, Paul Eramo, and Helen Eckstrom for always being there in love, friendship and support. A Funeral Service lead by Elder Micah Crewell will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:00pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends from 5:00 until 7:00pm (two hours prior to the funeral service).
