HERKIMER – Joanne Traugh Killenbeck, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 9, 2023 in Herkimer, NY. She had the love and support of her family at her bedside.
She was born on September 4, 1932 in Berwick, PA. The daughter of the late Clarence D. and D. Allene (Terry) Traugh, and sister of Evelyn Bower, Gwendolyn Bower, Marjorie Lewis, Mary Ellen Kozma, and C. Terry Traugh. Raised and educated in Berwick she graduated High School in 1950.
For several years she worked at the American Car and Foundry (AC&F) as a member of the traffic department. In 1953 she moved to Rochester to work at the Eastman Kodak Company as a secretary. In 1954 she married Robert G. Wilson and they had a daughter Risleigh. On May 17, 1975 she married Harry A. Killenbeck, and became step-mother to Mark, Alan, Keith, Karen and Scott Killenbeck. They shared a devoted union of 26 years until his passing in 2001. In 2004, she moved to Herkimer to be closer to her daughter.
Joanne was devoted to her family and friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed writing poems for special occasions. She had a passion for dancing and an interest in home decorating. She delighted in wearing hats and had an extensive collection.
Joanne is survived by her daughter Risleigh (Patrick) Roche of Herkimer, and grandchildren Brianna and Brenden Roche. She is also survived by step-children, Mark (Ann), Alan (Deborah), Keith (Paula Marie Stadtmiller), & Scott (Darlene) Killenbeck, and step-grandchildren, Michael, Brenda, Jeffrey, Clayton, Corinne, Stephen, and Jessica. She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings and two nephews, as well as her step-daughter Karen Killenbeck. Joanne cherished her family, and also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, and their families.
Calling hours for Mrs. Killenbeck will be in Fenner Funeral Home Inc, 115 Court Street, Herkimer on Tuesday from 4:00 -6:00 pm. Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11:00 am in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Henry Street. Interment in Berwick Cemetery will be at a later date.
