RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Joanne Beverly (Patrick) Ward, age 70, passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
Joanne was born in Fly Creek, September 24, 1940, a daughter of Robert and Irene Patrick. She was raised in Fly Creek and Richfield Springs, living most of her life in Richfield Springs. She was married once, for a time to the late Hiram Ward Jr.
Joanne was a kind, generous person, who enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. Though a quiet person, she always enjoyed the company of people and loved the time she spent in her many years in a bowling league and attending TOPS, where she made many friends. She enjoyed walking her dog Mickey throughout the village of RichfieldSprings and meeting the people she came upon. She collected many knick-knacks and small treasures and enjoyed creating and giving ceramic gifts.
Joanne is survived by son Wayne and daughter-in-law Cathy Ward of Richfield Springs; son Matthew and daughter-in-law Jackie Ward of Ilion, daughter Robin and son-in-law Craig Wightman of Schuyler Lake; daughter Deirdre Ward and her companion Brad Goodman of Mohawk; and son William and daughter-in-law Barbara Ward of Richfield Springs.She is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brothers Raymond Patrick (wife Marilyn), Richard Patrick (wife Carolyn), Jim Patrick and his companion Grace; and a sister Janice (Patrick) Mulkins; along with many nieces and nephews, as well as her friend of 30 years Gladys Scanlon. In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her sister Joyce (Patrick) Peplinski and infant sister Joan.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, at 12:00 noon,in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. The Reverend Alan Miller, pastor of the Richfield Springs Bible Church, will officiate. Interment will be at the Lakeview Cemetery in Richfield Springs.
Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
