RICHFIELD SPRINGS - John K. Clark Sr. Jack age 80 of Linden Avenue, passed away on Monday morning November 13, 2006 in Valley Health Services Inc., Herkimer.
He was born on February 12, 1926 in Clayville, son of the late Thomas and Lillian Berray Clark. Jack was raised in Clayville and was a graduate of Clayville High School. An honorably discharged US Army veteran he proudly served our country during World War II. Upon returning home from the war he was united in marriage on June 15, 1945 with the former Marjorie Ryan in Utica. Theirs was a devoted union of fifty-nine years until her passing on March 27, 2005.
Mr. Clark had first owned and operated a building contracting company and later began his own building materials supply business in Sharon Springs. He retired in 1991.
He was a member of the Church of Christ Uniting, Richfield Springs, he also had memberships in the Richfield Springs Lodge # 482 Free and Accepted Masons, Richfield Springs Lions Club and the Bridgewater Senior Citizens. Jack was a strong willed man who enjoyed the outdoors and playing golf. An avid baseball fan he liked watching baseball games, especially his beloved New York Mets. He was happiest when he was surrounded by his many friends and family especially his five grandchildren. Nothing will ever detract from the joy of having known him.
Surviving are one daughter, Maureen Clark Hugick of Richfield Springs, two sons and their wives, Dewey L and Mary Clark of OK, John K. Jack Jr. and Debbie Clark of Richfield Springs, two sisters, Esther Welch of Rome, Mildred and her husband Nick Barberio of Oneonta, five grandchildren, Nicole Clark, James K. Clark, John S. Clark, Michael Clark and Maria Clark, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and loving wife Marjorie he was preceded in death by a daughter Sharon Ann Clark in 1954 and a brother Fred Clark.
Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs where calling hours will be held on Wednesday (today) from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service with the Reverend William Harkins, Pastor of the Church of Christ Uniting, Richfield Springs will follow at the completion of visiting hours at 8:00 pm. Interment in Sauquoit Valley Cemetery will be on Thursday November 16th at 3:00 p.m.
