John C. EversonCOOPERSTOWN - John C. Everson, 89, of Woodside Hall,formerly of Walnut Street Richfield Springs, died on Thursday morning, December14, 2000 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. He was born on October 3, 1911 in New York City, a son of thelate Peter and Theodora Smith Everson. Raised and educated in Lynnhurst, NJ onOctober 1, 1938 he married Alice M. Geary in Lynnhurst. He proudly served ourcountry during WW II from October 25, 1943 and was honorably discharged on March25, 1946. He and his family had lived in Wayne, NJ until 1973 when they moved toRichfield Springs. He had worked as a building contractor for private homes andfor 10 years as a real estate agent for the Kinnelon Realty in New Jersey. Whileliving in New Jersey he was a member of the Star Spangled BarberShop Quartet ofEast Rutherford and for many years couched little league baseball. John was a loving and devoted family man. He is survived byhis wife of 62 years, Alice; a daughter and her husband Alice and RonaldWellenstein of Springfield Center; grandchildren, Stacey Willemsen Barnett andher husband Christopher of Boston, MA, Kim Barnes and her husband Dean of LittleFalls, Karen Wellenstein of Herkimer and Renee Wellenstein of Danbury CT;great-grandchildren, Callen Barnett, Jessica, Geoffrey, Brett and Corey Barnes;several nieces and nephews. The family will be present in J. Seaton McGrath FuneralHome on Monday from 4-7 p.m. to receive relatives and friends. A prayerservice will follow with Pastor Ronald Woudenberg. Memorial donations may bemade to the Richfield Springs Bible Church Youth program. Envelopes will beavailable at the funeral home.
