John Paul Glanovsky passed away from this earth on 10/11/2026 peacefully at home surrounded by the love and support of his family.
He was born on June 23, 1938, in Hartford, Connecticut, to Stephen and Pearl (Parylak) Glanovsky and was raised in Unionville, Connecticut. He graduated from Farmington High School with the Class of 1956 and proudly served in the United States Air Force as a jet engine mechanic.
John Paul began his career as a machinist for Mallory Industries before moving to New York State to pursue his dream of dairy farming alongside his wife and children. Demonstrating extraordinary dedication to his family and livelihood, he commuted between Connecticut and New York for more than 17 years while building their farming future.
In April 1963, John Paul married the love of his life, Susan. Together they shared more than 63 years of love, partnership, and devotion.
Outside of work, John Paul had a remarkable talent for building and creating. His passion began with assembling a 1923 Model T from scraps and skillfully completed countless projects over the years, including building a family home for his daughter. His knowledge and ability to solve problems seemed limitless. He especially cherished time spent camping and making memories with his family.
John Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Susan; his son, Jeffrey Glanovsky and wife Kathy; his daughter, Lori Swieton and husband Robert; his grandson, Joshua Swieton; and his granddaughter, Jessica Swieton. He is also survived by his brothers and sister, Richard (Mary) Glanovsky, Kathy Giest, and Thomas (Heidi) Glanovsky, all of Connecticut, many nieces and nephews as well as a special friend, Kim Ciaccia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Pearl Glanovsky; his brother, Steve Glanovsky of North Carolina; his sister, Mary Knierman of New Jersey; and his grandson, John Joseph.
Those who knew John Paul will remember him for his strong work ethic, boundless knowledge, willingness to help others, and deep love for his family. His legacy of perseverance, craftsmanship, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A private family burial will be held at the family's discretion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
