Obituary

SPRINGFIELD CENTER - John J. Glynn age 61 of State Highway # 80 passed away peacefully on Monday morning September 10, 2007 in his home. He was born on November 27, 1945 in New York City, son of the late James and Virginia Donovan Glynn. At a young age John came with his family to Springfield where he was raised and graduated from Springfield High School with the class of 1963. He furthered his education at Morrisville Community College studying Business Administration. In September of 1965 he enlisted in the US Navy where he served as a Navy Corpsman. He was honorably discharged in September of 1967 attaining the rank of HM-3. After his return home from his military service, he met the former Maureen Gildea and they were united in marriage in the Bronx, NY. A loving and devoted union they made their home and raised their family in the Bronx until Maureen passed on November 1, 1997. In 2000 he returned to Springfield where he has resided since. For the past six years Mr. Glynn was employed with the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Sharon Springs. John had a strong belief in God and led a devoted Catholic life. He was a member of the Richfield Springs Vets Club. To all who knew him they will always remember an honest and upright man. Any conversation with him was frank and to the point, but you could always feel a sense of warmth and friendship whenever you were with him. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family. Surviving him are four daughters, Gina Glynn of the Bronx, Lisa Copeland and her husband Kenneth of Mahopac, Roseanne Novielli and her husband Nick of the Bronx, Virginia Glynn with whom he resided of Springfield, a step-son Gregory Torres of Colorado Springs, CO, one brother, James Glynn of San Pablo, CA, a sister, Janet Spraker and her husband Robert of Richfield Springs, three grandchildren Alyssa Copeland, Ava Copeland, Kenny Copeland Jr. all of Mahopac, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents and wife Maureen he is preceded in death by one son James Glynn. Funeral service will take place on Friday at 10:00 am in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home; 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. Nancy Brown, Parish Life Director of Saint Josephs Church Richfield Springs will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Springfield Center Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
