RICHFIELDSPRINGS-John G. Goodale passed away at home on February 26, 2001. He was the sonof Roger and Mable Goodale of Richfield Springs.
He was predeceased by brother's Carlton,George, Harry, Ralph and Ward and sister Audrey.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth H.Goodale, brothers Warren, William and Roger and sisters, Alice Dent, CatherineStaring and Ginger Fassett.
His children are Susan Stratton, DouglasGoodale, Kellie Cooper and Jack Cooper. He also has seven grandchildren andseveral nieces and nephews and always his beloved friend Pam Lea, Doctor ofVeterinary Medicine.
He is a graduate of Geneseo and earned amaster's degree in history at the State University of Albany. He graduated fromthe midshipman school established by the US Navy at Notre Dame after the 1941Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He took part in the D-Day Invasion at Normandyon June 6, 1944 and then was transferred to the Pacific theatre of war. Heretired from the US Navy as a Lt. Commander.
He was a teacher and administrator in theArgyle, Schuyler Lake and Richfield Springs School District. He was director ofTesting for the State University of Arizona at Tulsa. He was a teacher andadministrator for several years in the Frankfort-Schuyler School district. Hisstudents found him compassionate, trustworthy and fair teacher, which is inlarge part his legacy.
He will always be cherished by his family andfriends.
