ILION - John T. Gordon, age 82, of London Towers Apartments passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening Nov. 20, 2002 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital Center, New Hartford. He was born on June 20, 1920 in Herkimer, son of the late John Henry and Eva Eisenlord Gordon. John was raised in Herkimer where he attended the North School and was a graduate of Frankfort High School. An honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. On Jan. 30, 1953 he married Edith Harr in Schenectady, a loving and devoted union of 37 years until her passing on Oct. 29, 1990. Mr. Gordon had worked as a surveyor for the department of highways in Utica and in later years for the General Electric Company in Schenectady, where he retired in 1987. He has resided in Ilion since 1990. Surviving him are his sister Corrine and her husband Alexander Youda of Ilion, nine nieces and five nephews. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Park View Cemetery, Schenectady. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc., Herkimer.
