Richfield Springs - John Greseck, age 97, formerly of State Highway #28, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2005 in Folts Homes, Herkimer. He was born on June 5, 1908 in Calverton, Long Island, son of the late Ignatz and Meckalina Greseck. John was raised and educated in Calverton. From a young age, he had worked on the family potato farm in Calverton. On February 8, 1931 he married the former Stephanie Poliwada in Cutchoque, LI. A loving and devoted union of sixty-seven years, Mrs. Greseck preceded him in death on February 25, 1998. They came to Richfield Springs in 1951 from Calverton to work with his son Stanley on his potato farm on Route #20 in Richfield Springs. In 1966, he and his son left farming and started their building construction business. To all who knew John, they will remember his quiet manner, warm smile and the love he had for his family. He will be greatly missed. Surviving are his son, Stanley and his wife Stephanie H. Greseck of Richfield Springs; a daughter, Suzanne and her husband Richard Wienburg of Glenwood Springs, CO; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral from J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph's Church at 10 a.m. The Reverend Terrence Healy will officiate. Interment will follow in Springfield Center Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Friday (today) from 7 until 9 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made with donations to Saint Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs.
