RICHFIELD SPRINGS - John Hrynda Jr. age 77 of Brighton Road passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening July 27, 2010 in his home. He had the comfort of his loving family at his side. He was born on February 26, 1933 in the town South Columbia, son of the late John and Anna Pytel Hrynda. A lifelong area resident, he was raised and educated in Richfield Springs Schools. Mr. Hrynda was an honorably discharged veteran of the US Air Force and had served during the Korean War. After the war John came home to work on the family dairy farm. He is survived by two sisters, Mary and her husband John Sadlon and Anna Hornacek all of Richfield Springs, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Metro, William and Steven Hrynda. A funeral service from the Book of Common Prayer will be held on Monday at 6:00 p.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs with the Reverend John Dixon Bartle, Rector of St. Johns Episcopal Church, Richfield Springs officiating. The family will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service (5:00 to 6:00 pm) to receive relatives and friends. After the funeral service, a continuation of the celebration of Johns life will be held at the Richfield Springs Veterans Club. Members of Richfield Springs Veterans Club are asked to meet at the funeral home at 5:45 pm for ritualistic services. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Catskill Area Hospice or the Richfield Springs Emergency Rescue Squad. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
