John Charles Kelly Sr., (Jack), of Wofford Heights, Calif., died July 26, 2016 after a long illness.
Born in Little Falls, N.Y., he was the son of Charles and Marie (Feeney) Kelly.
His brother, Nicholas Kelly of New Hartford and Herkimer, died in 2013 and his sister, M. Terese Kelly of Little Falls and Herkimer, died in 2011.
He is survived by his son, John Jr. and wife Cora, of Riverside and Wofford Heights, Calif., who took care of him in his illness; his daughter, Margaret, (Peggy) and son-in-law Gary Greenberg of Camas, Wash., and their sons, Jeffrey Greenberg of Vancouver, and Michael Greenberg of Camas, and four great-grandchildren; his brother, Charles (Ann) Kelly of Norwalk, Conn., and sister, Ellen Armstrong of Cooperstown, and nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy and Syracuse University. After his high school graduation he joined the Navy and served in the Pacific, surviving a typhoon in 1945. He was married in Herkimer in 1956 to Patricia (Patti) Gray, now of Canoga Park, Calif.
He worked for GE in Utica and later moved to Sperry Rand-Univac. He moved to Conductron in St. Louis, Mo. He was an operations director at the Litton., Inc., Canoga Park Advanced Circuitry Division. He retired from Singer-Librascope in California.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and bird hunting.
Services were held at St. Jude's, Wofford Heights, Aug. 12.
Local arrangements were handled by Fenner Funeral Home, Herkimer.
