RICHFIELD SPRINGS - John Anthony Krish, age 82, of U.S. Highway 20 passed away peacefully on Monday morning Aug. 8, 2011 in Faxton-St. Luke's Medical Center, New Hartford.He was born April 6, 1929 in New York City, son of the late Frank J. and Antonia Ozbolt Krish.At a young age he, with his family, moved to Richfield Springs from Brooklyn.John was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School and the Mohawk Valley Technical Institute. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he served from 1951 to 1953 and was honorably discharged, attaining the rank of Corporal.For many years, Mr. Krish worked for UNIVAC in Utica.In 1970 he went to work the Remington Arms Company in Ilion. He retired in 1980.On Aug. 5, 2005 he was united in marriage with Isabelle Duncan-Garbera at the Lake House Restaurant, in Richfield Springs.Mr. Krish was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker in Richfield Springs. He was a member of the Ilion Moose Club and the American Legion, Post 616, Richfield Springs.Surviving besides his loving wife, Isabelle, are a sister, Mary Koshar of Utica; three nephews, Frank Svet Jr., Andrew Koshar and John Koshar; two nieces, Frances Wesley and Joanne Pickles; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank J. Krish, also known as Brother Lawrence, who served as a missionary in Lagos, Nigeria and a sister, Millie Svet.Funeral from J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs on Friday, Aug. 12, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Saint Joseph the Worker Church, Richfield Springs. The Rev. Terence Healy, Pastor, will officiate. Interment with military honors accorded by the U.S. Army will follow in Saint Joseph's Cemetery.The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, from 4 until 8 p.m.Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to American Cancer Society.
