LITTLE FALLS-John Earl Lewis, 71, of State Road # 169, passed away on Tuesday morning, April 17, 2001, in Little Falls Hospital.
He was born on January 11, 1930, in the town of Marcy, son of the late Adrian M. and Gertrude Wood Lewis. John was raised and educated in Bridgewater. After leaving high school he entered the US Navy where he served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. In 1974 he married Madeline Whitt in Newport. He worked most of his life driving eighteen wheeler trucks and in more recent years was a lathe operator last being employed by Ideal Woodworking Company, Little Falls. He retired in 1995. John had a strong belief in God and was a Christian.
Surviving besides his wife of twenty-six years, Madeline; are a son, Andrew Lewis of VA; a daughter, Vicki Cooper of Cobleskill; a step-son, Rick Pritchard of Little Falls; two brothers, Thomas and Timothy Lewis, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a special great granddaughter Ashley Shaver known affectionately to John as "the outlaw".
Funeral service will be on Friday at 11:00a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer with Mar. J. Ohann Thomas Ignaz, Antiochean Bishop officiating. Interment in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls will take place later this spring. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Friday morning two hours prior to the funeral service from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
