John A Proctor's Obituary

JORDANVILLE - John A. Proctor, 64, of Little Lakes Road, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, Dec. 11, 2005, in Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown. He was born June 13, 1941, in Williamstown, son of the late George and Jeanette Deyo Proctor. John was raised and education in Sauquoit by his foster parents, Giacomo and Bette Guardi. On March 2, 1968, he was united in marriage with the former Barbara O'Connor in the Richfield Springs United Methodist Church. For more than 27 years he was heavy equipment operator for the town of Warren, retiring in 2001. In his leisure time he enjoyed mechanics, especially trucks. He was a great fan of truck pulls, and was one who was always ready to pitch in when mechanical difficulties arose at truck pull events. All those who knew him will remember his warm smile and friendly manner. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family, especially his 15 grandchildren. Surviving are his loving wife of 37 years, Barbara; four sons, Thomas Proctor of Jordanville, Arthur Proctor and his companion Kim Stolz, Timothy and his wife Karena Proctor, all of Richfield Springs and Wayne and his wife Georgiene Proctor of Ilion; a brother, James Proctor of Erieville; two sisters, Joanne and her husband Don Janes of Camden and Janie Clanton of Vernon; his mother-in-law, Helen E. O'Connor of Richfield Springs; one sister-in-law, Sandra and her husband Eric Mortensen of Van Hornesville; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Gordon and Delores O'Connor of Richfield Springs and Norman and Elaine O'Connor of Utica; 15 grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew, Nicole, Cassie George, Eric, David, Cindi, T.J., Aaron, Derrick, Raymond, Rachael, Jeremy, Ashley and Marion; several nieces, nephews, cousins and his faithful canine companion, Saydee. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, James Michael Proctor. Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs. Pastor Alan Miller will officiate. Interment will take place next spring in Highland Rural Cemetery, Jordanville. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made with donations to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
