Obituary

MANION HEIGHTS - John D. Reardon, age 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, October 18, 2011, in his home. He had the comfort of knowing his family was at his side. He was born on July 26, 1932, in Little Falls, the son of the late Raymond and Marian Bradley Reardon. Mr. Reardon was raised and educated in Little Falls. On November 26, 1936, he married the former Mildred Decker in the Mohawk Reformed Church. For over nineteen years he worked at the Remington Arms Company, Ilion retiring in 1995. Upon retirement he set up woodworking in his garage. Many bird houses and feeders were individually crafted for his family and friends. He also had a great love for the outdoors be it hunting or spending summers at Kring Point on the Saint Lawrence with family and friends. However Tuesday mornings was set aside for a trip to the Turning Stone with his wife. John will always be remembered as a devoted husband, compassionate father, loving grand and great-grandfather. His focus was always his family and being there for them in good and sad times. He will be sadly missed and friends and especially his family. Surviving are his devoted wife Mildred of nearly 56 years, four children, Debra Reardon and her companion Vincent Ellerby, Sr. of Gloversville, John Reardon, Jr, and his wife Robin of Albemarle, NC, Tami Shaut and her companion Ron Feenstra of Ilion, Lori Coyne of Herkimer; six grandchildren, Flint Davis, Jr, Samantha Jassak, Somers Guillemette, Corey Shaut, Nickole Hawkins and Cody Sims; five great-grandchildren, Flintie, Autumn Rose, Mikie, Sophia Grace, and Ethan, several nieces and nephews, including a special niece Nancy Rahm; cousins, and sister-in-law Beatrice Smith, along with his many friends at Kring Point. He also leaves his canine pal Herman III. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his only sister, Carol Rahm and his son-on-law Jeffery Shaut. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 12 noon at Fenner Funeral Home, Inc. 115 Court Street, Herkimer. Interment will follow in Mohawk Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 11:00 am until 12 noon (one hour prior to the funeral service). Expressions of Sympathy may be made with memorial donations to Hospice and Palliative Care Inc. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
