Obituary

ILION-John F. Sanderson age 73 ofJim Streetpassed away on Monday December 21, 2009 in Saint Elizabeths Medical Center,Utica. He had the comfort of his loving wife and daughter at his side. He was born on February 5, 1936 in South Columbiason of the late Jesse and Mabel Pollock Sanderson. A lifelong area resident he was raised and educated in Herkimer. On November 28, 1974 he was united in marriage with the former Joyce Ingraham in the town of Schuyler. It was that year that he moved from Herkimer to Ilionwhere they have remained since. For thirty-five years Mr. Sanderson worked as a tool maker for the Remington Arms Company, Ilion, retiring in 2000 after thirty-five years of dedicated service. John will always be remembered for his soft spoken, warm and caring manner. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing and doing the daily crossword puzzle. He was happiest when he was surrounded by his many friends and family especially his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. Surviving are his devoted wife of thirty-five years Joyce, a daughter, Jennifer Sanderson and her companion Andy Warner of Ilion, two step-sons, John Davis and his wife Sue of Clinton, Daniel Davis of Ilion, three step-daughters Tracey Burdick and her husband Scott of Frankfort, Christine and Laurie, one brother, Raymond Sanderson and his wife Anne of Jacksonville, FL, a sister, Gladys Hallenbeck of Herkimer, his mother-in-law, Grace Ingraham twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins and his favorite canine Cocoa. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his step-son, Mark Davis and father-in-law, Walter Ingraham. A graveside funeral service will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery on a later date next spring, at a time to be announced. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to Saint Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc., Herkimer
