John P. Staring, 65, of Little Falls, New York, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Little Falls Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on November 5, 1960, in Little Falls, John was the son of Fred and Elizabeth (Grande) Staring. He was raised and educated in Little Falls and graduated from Little Falls High School. John dedicated his career to the food service industry, most recently working at Holland Farms Bakery and Deli in Yorkville.

In his free time, John loved attending concerts and never hesitated to travel—often by himself—to see the artists he enjoyed. One of his favorite performers was the “Goddess of Pop,” Cher. He readily journeyed to destinations such as Las Vegas, Chicago, Cleveland, and beyond to catch a show.

John is survived by his beloved mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Staring of Canastota, NY; his siblings Kathy Dumas and her husband Donald of Wilmington, DE; Ken Staring of Little Falls; twin sisters Cindy Hathecoat and Kim Carswell, both of Canastota; twin brother James Staring of Little Falls; and Dan Staring and his wife Kerri of Hopkinton, MA; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousin and close friends who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his father and his brother Fred D. Staring Jr.

In accordance with John’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. The Staring family is under the care of Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer, NY.
