RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Jon C. Grogan, age 74, of Walnut Street passed away peacefully on Saturday December 12, 2020 in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.
Jon was born on October 17, 1946 in Little Falls, a son of the late Robert B and Helen Lawyer Grogan. He was raised and educated in Little Falls graduating from Little Falls High School. After high school he joined the United States Army. Jon served for four years full time then served for twenty years in the Army Reserves. He was a computer technician for Mohawk Data Sciences retiring in 1995. On September 19, 1986 he married the former Marilyn Roberts in Schuyler Lake. Together they resided in Richfield Springs where they raised their family.
He was Catholic by faith and he also had a strong sense of his community, Jon was a member of the Richfield Springs Lions Club and Richfield Springs Vets Club Post 616 where he served many positions in the organization and he was a Past Commander. He was also involved in his childrens various activities including Cub/Boy Scouts, Little League, and many more. He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.
Besides his wife he survived by two sons Cory Grogan and his wife Nicole of Richfield Springs, and Brett Slocum and his wife Mary of Ballston Spa, a daughter Julie Grogan of Ilion, two brothers James Grogan of Mohawk, Donald Grogan of Ilion, two sisters Mary Brown of Dolgeville, Sharon Ryan of Jacksonville, Florida, he is also survived by several grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son Max Grogan, three brothers William, Robert and Richard and a sister Margaret.
Funeral service with military honors will take place this spring. Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs.
