ILION - Joseph W. Madison, 57, of Otsego Street, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, in Little Falls Hospital.
He was born Feb. 23, 1944, in Little Falls, son of the late Walter and Vivian Graff Madison. A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of the Utica Trade School. He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran. In September of 1990, he married Lesha Hardy in Ilion. He had worked as an appliance repairman for Robinson Brothers Appliance in Mohawk and for Edick Appliance Store in Ilion, retiring in 1990.
He had a strong belief in God and lived a devoted Catholic life. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion.
Joe was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.
Surviving him are his wife, Lesha Hardy Madison; a daughter, Lori and her husband Rob DesChamps of Norfolk, Va.; two brothers, Walter Madison of Ilion and Michael and his wife JoEllen Macrina of New Hartford; six sisters, Sandra and her husband George Majka of New York Mills, Corrine and her husband Joseph Short of Ilion, Cheryl and her husband David Culver of Ilion, Sharon Yager of Mayfield, Pam and her husband Alton Woodbeck of Mohawk and Janice Miller of Mayfield; two grandchildren, John and Shelby DesChamps; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral from Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer will be Thursday at 9:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion. The Rev. Joseph Benintende, pastor, will officiate.
The family will receive relatives and friends in the funeral home Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. Interment will take place later this spring.
