HERKIMER - Joseph J.Shaffer, 44, of West Albany Street, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, in St.Luke's-Memorial Hospital Center, New Hartford.He was born Dec. 15, 1955,in Herkimer, son of the late Laurence R. and Patricia O'Bryan Shaffer. Joe wasraised in Herkimer and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. For many years hewas a bricklayer and a mason in Albany and Syracuse before coming back toHerkimer.Surviving him are threebrothers and their wives, Laurence and Sally Shaffer of Vernon, Conn., Mark andKathleen Shaffer of Mohawk, Jonathan and Deborah Shaffer of Little Falls; hisaunt and uncle Antoinette and John Shaffer of Herkimer and an uncle, RobertO'Bryan of Cordova, Tenn.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.Besides his parents, abrother, Thomas Shaffer, preceded him in death in 1996.Funeral from FennerFuneral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer, will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. A Massof Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Frances de Sales Church at 9:30a.m., with the Rev. Peter Nabozny, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow inCalvary Cemetery.The family will be presentin the funeral home to receive relatives and friends Tuesday from 5-7 p.m.Memorial donations may bemade to the charity of your choice.
