RICHFIELD SPRINGS, NY - Josephine T. Gawel age 88 of McKoons Roadpassed away peacefully on Friday morning December 4, 2009 in her home. She was born on February 19, 1921 in New Milford, CT daughter of the late Paul S. and Anna Trenka. Josephine was raised in New Milford and was a graduate of New Milford High School. On June 14, 1947 she was united in marriage with Frank P. Gawel in Saint Francis Xavier Church, New Milford. They shared a loving and devoted union of over twenty-seven years until his passing on January 8, 1975. Mrs. Gawel resided all her life in New Milford until 2006 when she moved to Richfield Springs, NYto be nearer to her son Frank. Josephine was happiest when she was surrounded by her friends and family especially her cherished grandchildren and great grandson. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are one son Frank Gawel and his wife Leonora of Richfield Springs, a daughter, Anna Moore and her husband Wayne of Simpson, IL, one sister Angeline Bilski of Torrington, CT, five grandchildren Mark A. Stone and Jeffery A. Stone both of New Milford, CT, Brian A. Stone of Torrington, CT, Frank C. Gawel and his wife Linda of Hermitage, TN, Cheryl Gawel of Silverdale, WA, one great-grandson Alexander Stone of Torrington, CT, several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Thursday December 10th at 1:30 pm in Saint FrancisXavier Cemetery,New Milford, CT. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are with J.
