Joyce E. Riesel age 76 passed away on Tuesday morning June 14, 2016 at Homelife at Folts, 104 North Washington Street, Herkimer. She was born on July 23, 1939 in Herkimer, daughter of the late William E. and Marion R. Thompson Riesel. A lifelong Herkimer resident she was a graduate of Herkimer High School. Joyces adult life was spent housekeeping on her parents farm on Steuben Hill Road and in later years caring for her parents on the family farm until their passing in 2001. Joyce was a devoted member of the Herkimer Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses and was baptized on December 6, 1980. She enjoyed talking to others about the things she had learned in the bible and sharing her hope for the future. She also enjoyed collecting cat figurines and was a farm girl at heart who thoroughly enjoyed country living. One of her favorite hobbies was dress making with her mother. To all who knew her, she had a very quiet yet kind personality and made many friends while living at the Nathan Galinski Apartments and for the past four years at the Folts Home in Herkimer. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by several cousins. Calling hours for Joyce will be on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00pm in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. Funeral service will take place on Saturday at 10:00 am in the funeral home with Micah Crowell officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
