RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Judy Llewellyn age 78 of South Streetpassed away on Friday morning August 14, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on February 18, 1931 in Ilion, daughter of the late Irving and Laura Reed Pett. A lifelong area resident Laura was raised in Mohawk and was a graduate of Mohawk High School.
On August 1st, 1953 she was united in marriage with Alferd G. Llewellyn Sr. in the South Columbia Churchby her grandfather. They resided in Waterville,Brookfield and settled in Richfield Springs in 1959 where they have remained for the past fifty years.
Judy was previously employed by Duofold, The Penny Saver and for twelve years with Skinner-Damulis. She also had served as Tax Collector for Richfield Springs.
She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Church of Christ Unitingin Richfield Springs, a twenty-four year member of the DAR and the Richfield Springs Lioness Club. In her earlier years she was a Cub Scout leader.
Judy was the center of the family. She was always kind, compassionate, nurturing, eager to lend a helping hand, a listener and just loving us all. She is missed dearly by all her family and many friends.
Mrs. Llewellyn is survived by her loving husband of fifty-six years, Al, her daughter, Karen and her husband Alan Zuis of Little Falls, four sons, Alferd Llewellyn Jr. of Amarillo, TX, Kendall Llewellyn of Latham, David and his wife Cathy Llewellyn of Richfield Springs and Robert Llewellyn of Millers Mills. Three sisters, Edith and her husband Hilton Acres, Dorothy Fredericks and Iren Zuis. She leaves sixteen grandchildren, Audrey, Andrea, and Alexander Zuis, John Jr., Jessica, Jeffrey, Jacob, Jaclyn, Sarah, Gregory, Marissa, Eric, Aaron, Courtney, Derrick, and Kyle Llewellyn and five great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her eldest son John Llewellyn in 1991, a brother Leonard Pett, and two brothers in law, Edmund Zuis and William Frederick.
Funeral service will be on Monday at 1:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; RichfieldSprings. The Reverend Hans Drews will officiate. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm.
