HAGAMAN - Julia L. LaPlant, 92, of Chuctanunda Street, died peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, in her home with her loving family at her side.
The daughter of the late Ervin and Lillian (Rosearans) Porter, she was born Aug. 10, 1910, in Fulton, where she was raised and educated. She was married to George LaPlant, who preceded her in death in 1974. For 33 years she had resided in Milwaukee, Wis., returning to Hagaman in 1993. She retired at the age of 62 from Gibbons Diner, where she had worked as a dishwasher. While living in Milwaukee, she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, loved to dance and was an amateur photographer. She truly enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest and will be greatly missed by her family. She gloried in the presence of her grandchildren and will always be remembered as a loving, caring and helpful person.
Her loving family, whom she leaves to cherish her memories, are three sons and their wives, Glen and Carol Jackson of Rome, Wis., Duncan and Marion LaPlant of Fredonia, Wis., and David and Kay LaPlant of Madia, Calif.; three daughters, Julia Green of Hagaman, Edna Bailey of Milwaukee, Wis., and Irene Gardner and her husband Robert of Richfield Springs; 27 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, George, she was predeceased by an infant son, Donald, and a great-grandson, Matthew Higby.
Funeral service will be held in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs, in May at a time to be announced. Interment will then follow in Springfield Center Cemetery.
