MOHAWK - Julia Penwell age 97 of Robinson Road passed away on Monday morning January 7, 2002 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica. She was born on May 26, 1904 in Brookneal, VA, daughter of the late Lawrence and Eunice Reams Clark. Julia was raised and educated in Brookneal. She was married to Robert Penwell who predeceased her in 1980. For many years Mrs. Penwell worked for the Fannie Farmer Candy Store in Minneapolis, MN retiring as store manager in 1969. In 1980 she moved to Mohawk where she has resided with her daughter Norma Spencer. Julia was happiest when she was surrounded by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Surviving are her daughter: Norma Spencer of Mohawk, two grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, sixteen great great grandchildren several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Robert she was preceded in death by two brothers: Bernard and Carl Clark, three sisters: Lucille Clark, Myrtie Pegram, Adeline Clark and a great great granddaughter. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family later this spring in Highland Rural Cemetery, Jordanville.
