Herkimer-Juliette T. Lasowski age 82 of Park Avenue passed away peacefully after a brief illness with brain canceron Friday morning April 13, 2012 in Folts Home, Herkimer. She had the comfort of her loving family by her side.
She was born on July 1, 1929 in Utica, NY, daughter of the late Homer and Annette Thuot. A lifelong Herkimer resident she was educated and graduated from St. Francis deSales Catholic School and Herkimer High School.
On September 15, 1951 she was united in marriage with Robert W. Lasowski in Saint Josephs Church in Herkimer. They would have celebrated 61 years of marriage this year.
Juliette was a former New York Telephone operator. For thirty years she with her husband Bob owned and operated the In-n-Out Shope in Herkimer which later became a division of Hummels Office Plus in which Julie was employed for many years retiring in 2011.
Juliette had a strong belief and devotion to God and was a member of St. Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. She was a member of the church Rosery Society and a former member of Zontas Club International.
To all who knew her, she was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family, especially her two cherished granddaughters. Over the years, Julie and her best friend and sister Betty Hummel found much enjoyment going West to the Turning Stone Casino. There are many entertaining stories of their adventures. No one every stole a day from Juliette.
Surviving besides her devoted husband of sixty years Robert are one daughter Marianne Stalteri and her husband Daniel of East Herkimer, two granddaughters, Kahley and Emily Stalteri, a sister Mary E. Betty Hummel of Mohawk, nine nieces and four nephews, brother-in-law Donald T. and sister-in-law Janine Lasowski.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Paul Thuot and sister Anita Dillon as well as two beloved nephews B.J. Dillon and Mark Thuot, brother-in-law, Harrison Hummel Jr., sister and brother-in-law Berniece & Paul Nielson, brother and sister-in-laws Peter & Olga, Ed & Donna and brother-in-law Bill Lasowski.
Juliettes family will be present in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer to receive relatives and friends on Monday evening from 4:00-7:00pm.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 am in Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer with the Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations St. Francis deSales Regional Catholic School or the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
