WEST WINFIELD-Karen Marie Greenwood age 55 of Stone Road passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon February 23, 2015 after an extended illness. She had the support and comfort of her loving family by her side. She was born on May 11, 1959 in Massena, daughter of Stephen and the late Mary Boyer Martell. Karen was raised in Massena and was a graduate of Massena High School. She furthered her education by graduating from Herkimer County Community College with a degree in accounting. On May 3 1980 she was united in marriage with Glen Greenwood in Massena. They first lived in Richfield Springs and in 2010 moved to their present home in West Winfield. Mrs. Greenwood was employed as a Medical Receptionist at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. Karen will always be remembered as a loving, caring and helpful person, with an unforgettable smile. She loved her family and was always there for them in the good times or bad. In her leisure time she enjoyed volunteering as teaching assistant at Mount Markham Central School, helping young students to learn to read. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and family. Surviving are her devoted husband of thirty-four years, Glen, her father, Stephen Martell, two sons, Mark Greenwood and his wife Katrina of Hawaii, Eric Greenwood of Cortland, two brothers and their wives, Rick and Kathy Martell of Valencia, PA, Michael and Debbie Martell of Norfolk, NY, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Greenwood's family will be present to receive relatives and friends in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. Funeral service and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
