Obituary

BALSTON SPA-Karen McCormick Harrison, 64, formerly of Phoenix Mills passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017, in her home. She had the comfort of her loving family by her side. Karen was born in Cooperstown, NY, on December 10, 1952, the daughter of the late Lester McCormick and Alice Jennings Tomasi. Karen was educated in Cooperstown and was a graduate of Herkimer County Community College. She was an Insurance Claims Adjuster for New York Central Mutual Insurance Company in Edmeston and at G.A.B. Robbins in Manhattan. In February 2013, she was united in marriage to Kevin Harrison. Karen was an artistic person. She painted with both water colors and oils. At home, she enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing. She was an animal lover and had a special place in her heart for her two cats and grand dog, Dimples. Karen will always be remembered as a caring, kind and helpful lady. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and family. Surviving are her husband Kevin, two daughters, Stacey Lindgren of Phoenix, AZ, Kristen Hext and her husband Luke Bailey of Richfield Springs, a son, Gregory Hext of Schuyler Lake, a sister, Patricia Brunner and her husband Clifford of Cooperstown, one granddaughter, Kayla Ramirez of Phoenix, AZ, two nieces, Amy Parr and (Keith), Lisa Lippitt and (Matt), a nephew, Clifford Brunner and (Natasha) all of Cooperstown plus several great nieces and great nephews. Karens service and celebration of life will be held in the Spring at the Old Stone Church in Schuyler Lake with the Reverend Rick Kinney, pastor officiating. Date and time to be announced at a later time. An Interment will be in Hartwick Cemetery, Cooperstown. In lieu of flowers donation envelopes for the Richfield Springs Volunteer Fire Department and the Susquehanna Animal Shelter will be available at the church. Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs. Her family asks that you fondly remember her in your thoughts and prayers. To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is to never die.
