MOHAWK Katherine Marie Roginski, age 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, December 15, 2018 at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Mohawk Valley (formely Mohawk Valley Nursng Home) Ilion.
She was born on December 17, 1924, in Ephratah, a daughter of the late Peter and Josephine Pinaha Yestremski. She was raised and educated in the Ephratah area graduating from St. Johnsville High School.
On June 16, 1946, she married Walter Roginski in Sacred Heart Church, Little Falls. They shared a devoted union of thirty-five years until his passing in 1981. For many years she worked in local dress manufacturing companies retiring from the PK Dress Factory in Little Falls. She continued sewing patches for the local Fire Department uniforms well in to her retirment years.
For many years, she attended St. Anthony and Joseph Church and was a member of the crafty ladies. In recent years, she was a communicant of Blessed Sacarment Church, Mohawk.
Kay enjoyed sewing and quilting. Family members have fond memories of the quilts she made with love. She was a hard worker but never complained. It is said that she worked for fun enjoying every task she took on. She also enjoyed farming. To her it was relaxing, especially tending the cows for many years. She will be fondly remembered as a kind woman who would lend a helping hand, never looking for praise or thanks. She was a friend to many and will be remembered with love.
Surviving are her son and his wife Walter Jr. and Sharleen Roginski, a daughter Sylvia Bunce all of Mohawk, a daughter Barbara Corrigan of Denver, Co. ten grandchildren, Richard & Tina Bunce; Ronald & Colleen Bunce; Jason & Lori Bunce; Steven & Janelle Roginski; Andrew and Amanda Roginski all from Mohawk; LTC Jonathan Roginski, PhD West Point, NY; Kristin & Ryan Matter, Washington DC; Irene & Shane Bogardus, Austin Texas; David & Candace Corrigan, Binghamton, NY; Paul & Kristie Corrigan, Cranberry Township, PA, many great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by seven siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday 10:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk. Interment will be in St. Marys Cemetery, Little Falls.
The family will be present in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00pm to receive relatives and friends.
